Overflowing sewers, stinking water supply irk residents

Residents of Ward 18 on Chandigarh Road have complained about accumulated sewage water in a park in the area. They also complained that the water being supplied to the area by the civic body was contaminated.

Premjeet Singh of Sector 39 on Chandigarh Road said the water was getting accumulated in the park. Also, the area residents were being supplied visibly contaminated and stinking water. It seemed that sewage was getting mixed in the water supply line, he claimed.

The residents have demanded that the civic body resolve the problem of choked and overflowing sewers in the area as the chances of the spread of a disease cannot be ignored. They demanded from the MC to ensure safe drinking water supply and cleanliness in the area.

MC Superintending Engineer Rajinder Singh could not be contacted for comments.
