Online career counselling held for fisheries students

Ludhiana, October 21

The College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), organised an online career counselling session for fisheries students in collaboration with faculty of the University of Tasmania, Australia (UTAS) and international overseas education consultants in India, AECC Global India.

Over 60 undergraduate and postgraduate students attended the session. Sanjay Madabushi, recruitment manager, South Asia, UTAS, apprised the students about the eligibility for higher studies in fisheries at UTAS. He invited interested students to undertake PhD in Marine Sciences at UTAS to submit their research proposal, expression of interest and biodata directly to Graduate Research Department, UTAS through email (CoSE@utas.edu.au ).

Dr Bhupinder Singh Sandhu, placement officer, GADVASU, said the placement cell was instrumental in organising such sessions. Dr Prabjeet Singh, chairman, placement committee, College of Fisheries, coordinated the session.

Dr Meera D Ansal, Dean, College of Fisheries, said owing to such sessions, many graduates are pursuing higher studies abroad. The alumni linkage also offers prospective academic and R&D alliance opportunities for parent educational institutes as well, she added.

Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU, said the university was committed to enhance professional competency of the students to produce skilled human resource for serving the livestock sector at regional, national and international levels.
