One-yr-old girl run over by car, killed

Ludhiana, June 13

In a tragic incident, a one-year-old girl, Shanaya, was killed after being run over by a car here last evening.

The girl, accompanied by her seven-year-old brother, Ritesh, had gone to buy toffees from a shop located near her house in Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar.

According to eyewitnesses, the girl stumbled and fell in front of the stationary car while crossing the street. While her brother was trying to pick the girl, the driver suddenly moved the vehicle.

It is being stated that the car driver was talking to someone on his mobile phone and did not notice the girl and her brother, who were in front of the vehicle.

Onlookers and area residents overpowered the car driver, identified as Rahul, a resident of Dugri. On a complaint lodged by Ram Kumar, the police have registered a case against the car driver under Sections 279 and 304-A of the IPC.
