One death; 28 test positive for Covid

Twentyeight persons tested positive for Covid, while one lost his life to the virus here today. A 73-year-old woman from Dugri Phase III succumbed to the virus. She was also suffering from diabetes and hypertension.

Those who tested positive included 13 persons who were referred from the flu corner, eight referred from the OPDs, four contacts of positive persons, while two were still being traced.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma today said the number of coronavirus patients getting cured in Ludhiana district was increasing with each passing day. He said there were 273 active patients in the district at present.

He said all efforts were being made to keep people safe from Covid. He said a total of 28 new patients had tested positive in the past 24 hours.

He said that till date, a total of 3,55,330 samples had been taken, out of which reports of 3,54,126 samples had been received. Of these, 3,31,816 samples were found negative, while reports of 1,204 samples were pending.

He said now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana was 19,701, while 2,609 patients were related to other districts/states.

He saidthat till date, 46,148 persons had been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such persons was 1,501. Today, 74 persons were sent for home quarantine.
