One Covid death, 24 +ve cases in Ludhiana

Twentyfour persons tested positive for Covid, while one lost his life to the deadly virus here today.

The person who died was a 67-year-old woman from Harpal Nagar. She was also suffering from hypothyroidism and depression and was admitted in Deep Hospital.

Those who tested positive today included an undertrial, two pre-operative cases, 12 persons referred from flu corners, four from OPDs and two contacts of positive patients. The tracing of three persons is under process.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma said under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab Government, the number of coronavirus patients getting cured in Ludhiana district was increasing with each passing day. He said there were 207 active patients in the district at present.

He said 24 new patients from Ludhiana district had tested positive in the last 24 hours.

Till date, a total of 3,77,386 samples had been taken, out of which reports of 3,75,595 samples had been received, of which 3,52,852 samples were found negative, while the reports of 1,791 samples were pending. He said now the total number of patients related to Ludhiana was 20,046.

Till date, 46,579 persons had been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such persons was 1,096. Today, 75 persons were sent for home quarantine.

He said whenever the district administration and the Health Department, Ludhiana, come to know about any positive or suspected Covid person, their samples are immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 2,189 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results were expected shortly.
