Ahmedgarh, December 8

In view of fresh threat of Omicron, a new variant of coronavirus, the administration has announced plans to extend the Har Ghar Dastak campaign to achieve the target of vaccination of all eligible residents in the region.

Madhvi Kataria, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Malerkotla, has called upon office-bearers and activists of various organisations to associate with the movement and help frontline warriors of the Health Department identify eligible non-vaccinated persons and facilitate their inoculation.

Rajesh Garg, SMO, Civil Hospital, claimed to have revamped teams of healthcare workers so that the target of complete vaccination against Covid and its latest variants was achieved without further delay.

Showing satisfaction over the outcome of the campaign launched earlier, the DC claimed that 2,08,033 eligible residents of Malerkotla district had received the first dose till now whereas 85,135 persons were fully vaccinated.

“As complete vaccination against the virus is prerequisite for fighting the probable third wave and suspected inflow of Omicron, we have decided to continue Har Ghar Dastak campaign at all 192 localities till the target of 100 per cent vaccination is achieved,” the DC said while appreciating that certain social organisations had been supporting the drive enthusiastically.

Stressing on the need for following standard guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus, the DC said all Covid safety protocols should also be adhered to, besides getting vaccinated.

“We have made enough arrangements to ensure that special teams of healthcare workers reach residences or workplaces of individuals, who have not been vaccinated till now. It is high time when we all should avail the facility to protect our bodies by getting vaccinated, instead of believing superstitions,” the DC added.
