Norms relaxed but residents need to be cautious: IMA

The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Ludhiana branch, has asked the city residents to take all precautions as relaxation has been given in the lockdown now.

Dr Sunil Katyal, president, IMA, Ludhiana, said: “As relaxation has been given in the lockdown with markets, offices and other establishments opening up gradually, rush is witnessed everywhere. We all should act as responsible citizens at this time and avoid overcrowding at any place. We should follow social distancing and wear masks at public places. This simple measure can prevent us and others from getting infected,” said Dr Katyal.

Dr Dheeraj Aggarwal, general secretary, IMA, Ludhiana, said basic preventive steps such as washing hands at regular while traveling, wearing of proper and recommended masks, covering your face with handkerchief or tissue while coughing or sneezing, not spitting in open and public places will help us immensely in breaking the chain of spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

He further said: “If a person has any symptoms such as cough, sore throat, fever or difficulty in breathing, he should immediately seek medical help and not hide any medical history from the doctors.”

“Taking care of mental health is very important at this time. These all can be managed with simple techniques of a positive outlook,” he added. — TNS

Precautions for Covid-19

Dos

  • Wash hands with soap and water regularly.
  • Cover your face with tissue while coughing and sneezing.
  • Avoid social gatherings and crowded places. Maintain social distance of at least 1 metre.
  • Seek immediate medical advice in case of cough, fever or sore throat.
  • Light and relaxation exercises at home.

Don’ts

  • Coming in close contact with others if you have cough, fever or sore throat.
  • Spitting in public places.
  • Touch your eyes, mouth, and nose frequently.
  • Venture out of your house unless compulsory.
  • Shaking hands and hugging.
