Ludhiana, October 16

Coming down heavily on private schools for violating government instructions during the Covid pandemic, the School Education Minister Punjab, Vijay Inder Singla, has cancelled the no objection certificates (NOCs) given to three schools in Ludhiana district.

In a press release issued here today, Singla said that he had been personally monitoring complaints against such schools and after reviewing the cases of the three schools, he had decided to cancel their NOCs for defying government directions.

The minister had floated his personal email id, vijayindersingla@gmail.com, to receive such complaints against wrongdoings by private school managements. Singla said that most of the complaints were by the employees for not paying them salaries or being paid less by their respective institutions during the pandemic.

He added that after receiving the complaints against these schools, the Education Department had served notices to their managements and after finding their replies unsatisfactory, their NOCs had been cancelled. The cabinet minister said the institutions included Guru Nanak Public School in Sarabha Nagar, DAV Public School in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar and Amrit Indo-Canadian Academy in Ladian Khurd.
