Nine booked in 3 assault cases

The police have booked nine persons in three cases of assault.

Four persons, identified as Vishal of Hazoori Bagh Colony, Cheema, a resident of Bahadar ke, Nirmal and Vinay, both residents of Ludhiana, have been booked under Sections 326, 506 and 34 of the IPC for allegedly assaulting Rajiv Kumar of Hazoori Bagh Colony.

The complainant said he and his friend were standing near a medical store in his colony in the evening when the suspects sped past them in a Tata Safari SUV (bearing registration no. PB 3B 0028), spraying dirty water from a puddle.

“When I objected to the reckless driving, they hurled abuses at us and entered into a scuffle during which I lost four teeth and two molars. Afterwards, the suspects fled the spot while threatening us,” Rajiv said.

In another road-side brawl, Navkomaldeep Singh of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, who was driving a car, was thrashed by another unidentified car owner when the former objected to the car coming onto the road from the wrong side. After a heated exchange, the suspect and his three accomplices beat up Navkomaldeep. Sharp weapons were also used in the assault.

The car of the complainant was also damaged. The police have registered a case under Sections 325, 341, 427, 506 and 34 of the IPC against them and were investigating the matter.

Monu, a resident of New Madhopuri, was allegedly assaulted by Rohit of the same colony after a dispute over bursting of firecrackers. According to the complainant, the suspect attacked him with a knife and fled the spot when he raised an alarm and his father came to his rescue. A case has been registered.
