Ludhiana, July 29

Mohali beat Ludhiana by six wickets in a rain-hit league match in group B in the ongoing Punjab State Inter-District (U-19) One Day Cricket Tournament played at GRD Global Education Institute ground on Thursday.

The issue was decided through VJD method (calculating target scores in interrupted one-day and Twenty20 cricket matches).

The overnight rain resulted into a wet outfield. The match could be started after 1 pm and it was reduced to 22 overs each side. After Ludhiana’s innings (124 for 7), it again started raining and the target was reset (121 runs in 20 overs). Mohali made the required runs after losing just four wickets with three balls to spare and wrapped up the issue to secure four points.

Batting first, hosts Ludhiana scored 124 runs for the loss of seven wickets in which the main contributions came through Bhavish Sethi, Sanyam Gill and Tikshan Tangri, who scored 53, 29 and 22 runs, respectively.

For the visitors, Hashdeep Singh took four vickets in five overs after giving away only 10 runs. Rushil Srivastava, Raghuvar Narang and Aryan Bhatia chipped in with one wicket each.

Needing 121 runs in 20 overs, Mohali scored 122 runs after losing four wickets in 19.3 overs. The architects of their victory were Aryan Bhatia (26 not out), Harshdeep Singh (23 not out), Jovanpreet Singh (23) and Rushil Srivastava (21).

For Ludhiana, four wickets were shared among Aradhya Shukla, Randeep Gill, Sidhant Tiwari and Sanyam Gill. Harshdeep Singh of Mohali XI was declared man of the match.
