MLA seeks investigation into record of 32-acre land in city

Ludhiana East MLA Sanjay Talwar has demanded from the Deputy Commissioner and the Mayor to conduct an inquiry into record related to a piece of land worth crores of rupees near Bhola Colony and Sector 32 here.

Talwar claimed: “I learned that the 32-acre land is a government property and it is related to the MC, Ludhiana. The cost of the property is about Rs 300 crore. Work had recently started for construction of a boundary wall on this land. A file related to this property is missing from the MC records.”

Talwar has demanded from the Deputy Commissioner to order a probe to check all old records that are related to the property. He also demanded that the construction at the site should be stopped.

Sources in the MC said a person had submitted some documents before the MC authorities and he claimed that the property belonged to him.

Municipal Town Planner Monika Anand said the construction at the site had already been stopped. She further said a person who had got construction started at the site had submitted some documents. These documents have been forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner office for verification, she added.
