Minor girl kidnapped, raped

Ludhiana, July 31

A man allegedly kidnapped a 16-year-old girl and raped her. The suspect has been identified as Vimal Kumar Yadav, a native of UP and at present living in New Vijay Nagar.

The complainant told the police that his daughter left home on July 20 without informing the family. On July 27, he got a call from his daughter who said she was kidnapped by Vimal who took her to a house in Alamgir. Vimal had promised his daughter that he would solemnise marriage with her and repeatedly raped her on that pretext.

The complainant alleged on the evening of July 27, when the accused had gone to the market, he went to Alamgir and rescued his daughter.

The girl lodged a complaint of rape against the suspect. Vimal earlier lived in the girl’s house as a tenant about a year ago.

The investigating officer from the Tibba police station, Gurdev Singh, said raids were being conducted to nab the suspect.

18-year-old girl goes missing in city

An 18-year-old girl has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Nirmal Singh of Mayapuri told the police that on July 29, his daughter, Mansi, left home without informing the family. He suspected that his daughter might have been kept under wrongful confinement by some person.
