Minor girl handed over to parents in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, June 16

An 11-year-old girl who had alleged torture by her maternal grandparents at Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar was handed over to her parents by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

Notably, on Monday a video had gone viral in social media in which the girl had alleged that her maternal grandparents were torturing her badly. She had demanded justice from the district and police administration. The Dugri police had yesterday also registered a daily diary register (DDR) in the case.

Gurjit Singh Romana, Chairman, Child Welfare Committee, said initially she had claimed that her mother had solemnised second marriage but on Wednesday when her parents came to take her custody, she agreed to go with them. So, the girl was lying.

Child Welfare Committee officials said the allegations of torture were yet to be verified and if same come true they will write to the police to take appropriate action.
