Ludhiana, January 13
After the Municipal Corporation dismantled shutter of a building near Saggu Chowk today, Aam Aadmi Party leader Gurpreet Gogi accused civic body officials of following a pick-and-choose policy allegedly on the instructions of a Cabinet Minister.
Gogi said that MC targeted his worker. He alleged, “Instead of taking action against influential violators, the MC targeted only my poor worker, who sells tea and also looks after booth- related works at the time of elections. Officials came today morning at 8:30 to demolish the shutter that was installed by my worker. However, shutters have also been installed on many other buildings in the same area, but action has been taken against only my worker.”
He said, “As I left the Congress and joined AAP, that is why my worker has been targeted today. I am being pressurised to stop raising my voice against a Cabinet Minister. But, I am not afraid of anyone. I will keep raising my voice for the people.”
Denying the allegations, Assistant Town Planner MS Bedi said, “Our building inspector during routine checking had noticed that shutter has been installed without permission on residential building for commercial purpose. That is why the shutter has been dismantled. There is no pick and choose policy. Other buildings with shutters are old.”
Bedi further said they had also demolished an illegal construction near Char Khamba Road in Model Town today.
