Ludhiana, July 17
The Municipal Corporation has started a plantation drive in Ludhiana.
Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, MC Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal and councillor Mamta Ashu planted saplings to start the drive here on Friday.
An officer of the MC’s horticulture wing, Kirpal Singh, said the saplings were planted in the green belt area on Lodhi Club Road, J-Block BRS Nagar, near Balloke sewerage treatment plant and Hambran Road today.
He said the drive would continue in coming days. A total of 17,000 saplings would be planted by the MC during the rainy season.
