Ludhiana, August 4

The Shimlapuri police have booked a woman on the charge of abetting suicide of her husband. The suspect has been identified as Rajpinder Kaur. The complainant, Mahinder Singh said his son Arvinder Singh got married to Rajpinder about 10 years ago. His son was a car mechanic.

He alleged that as his son had been suffering from TB for the past one year, his wife became indifferent towards his son.

On July 30, she scuffled with his son due to which his son left the house. When his son returned home the same evening, his wife didn’t open the door. The next day, his son committed suicide by pouring petrol on his body and setting him afire. He died at the PGI on August 1.

The investigating officer, ASI Harbans Singh, said raids were on to nab the woman.
