Man held for illegal mining

Ludhiana: The Ladhowal police have nabbed a man on the charge of illegal mining. He has been identified as Gurpreet Singh of Talwani Naubad village. The police said Gurpreet was nabbed on the banks of the Sutlej following a tip-off and his tractor-trailer laden with sand impounded. A case under the Mining Act has been registered against him. TNS

Girl goes missing

Ludhiana: A 20-year-old girl went missing under mysterious circumstances at Bhai Daya Singh Nagar. The complainant, Darvesh said his sister left home on July 16 informing her family that she was going to Jodhan Mansura village to meet relatives but she didn't reach there. He suspected that she might have been kept under wrongful confinement by some persons. TNS

Liquor peddler arrested

Ludhiana: The Dugri police have nabbed a liquor peddler with 10 bottles of illicit liquor. Hardev Singh of CRPF Colony, Dugri Phase I, was arrested at a naka alongside the canal and the liquor recovered from his possession. TNS
