Ludhiana, January 23

Court of Additional Sessions Judge Lukhvinder Kaur Duggal has convicted Mohd Sujak, a resident of Muradpura, on the charge of killing his own friend Mohd Fiaz over a money dispute.

He was ordered to undergo rigorous life imprisonment. A fine of Rs 10,000 was also imposed on the convict.

Additional public prosecutor Balwinder Singh said a case was registered at Division No. 6 police station on March 12, 2014, on a statement of Mohd Jagbaj, brother of the deceased.

He had said his younger brother Mohd Fiaz printed envelopes. On March 10, 2014, he came to know from his brother Mohd Tohid that Mohd Fiaz was missing. His friends were helping in searching his brother. Meanwhile, he read in the newspaper that a body was found at Transport Nagar, Ludhiana. He saw the body at the Civil Hospital and identified it as that of his brother.

He came to know that the accused, who lived adjoining to the house of Mohd Fiaz, was also missing. The neighbours in the “vehra” said Mohd Sujak had demanded money from Mohd Fiaz, but he refused.

Mohd Bablu also told him that on March 9, 2014, he saw that Mohd Fiaz and Mohd Sujak were consuming liquor. He believed that his brother was strangled to death by Mohd Sujak.
