Man gets 10-yr RI for supplying intoxicants to jailed son

The Court of Additional Sessions Judge Shiv Mohan Garg has convicted Nacchtar Singh, a resident of Phallewal village, Jodhan, with 10-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) for indulging in drug smuggling. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict.

The accused was caught by the police when he was trying to hand over intoxicating tablets to his son, who was in jail in connection with a criminal case.

According to prosecution, on November 19, 2019, a case was registered against the accused at the Division No 5 police station under Section 22 of the NDPS Act.

A criminal case was pending against the son of the accused in a local court and he was in jail. When after marking presence in the court, his son came out, the accused tried to hand over intoxicating tablets to him and was caught by the police along with 230 tablets.

During the trial, the accused pleaded innocent and claimed falsely implicated by the police. The court after going through the evidence and hearing arguments of both sides found him guilty.
