Man commits suicide; wife, in-laws booked

The Daresi police have registered an abetment to suicide case against woman and her parents after her husband committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his residence on Sekhewal Road. The deceased has been identified as Munish Sethi.

As per the complainant Shubam Gulati, his uncle (mother’s brother) got married to Deepika Sethi around 14 years ago. Few months after the marriage, Deepika started mental torture of his uncle as she wanted him to give money to her parents, he added. Despite torture, his uncle was fulfilling all needs of his wife and her parents, he said.

His uncle had given huge amount to his wife and her parents, he added. In March this year, his aunt (uncle’s wife) went to her parents home along with her children, he added.

A few days ago, children of the deceased called him and informed that their mother used to beat them daily, he said. Due to this issue, his uncle went into depression and on Monday night committed suicide, he added. The deceased also sent an audio message to his daughter in which he blamed Deepika and her parents for his death, he said. ASI Harvinder Singh, said a case of abetment to suicide was registered against Deepika, her mother Madhubala, father Mulkhraj, her brothers Rishu and Deepak and Deepak’s wife Tanika, all residents of Jalandhar Cantt. — TNS
