Ludhiana, June 18

The Dugri police today arrested a person on the charge of killing his friend a few days ago.

The suspect has been identified as Anup Singh Nikka, a resident of Choti Jawaddi.

Dugri Station House Officer (SHO) Sub-Inspector Neeraj Chaudhary said a person, Kuldeep Singh, was found murdered in Choti Jawaddi on June 13.

Kuldeep, along with his friend Sonu and Anup, had consumed liquor together on the night of June 13. After consuming liquor, Kuldeep had a scuffle with his friend Sonu over Rs 50.

“Anup intervened to prevent the scuffle, during which Kuldeep made vulgar remarks against his wife. Furious over the remarks, Anup decided to eliminate Kuldeep. However, area residents intervened and calmed down both of them,” the Dugri SHO said.

Initially, they all left for their houses. Anup again returned the same night and killed Kuldeep with a sharp weapon, the SHO said.
