Ludhiana tally spirals, 18 deaths, 282 cases

Ludhiana Covid tally continues to swell with each passing day. Today, 282 positive cases and 18 deaths were reported in the district. At present, 32 patients are on ventilator support.

Those who lost their lives include four women and 14 men. Most deceased were in the age group of 40-70 years.

A 28-year-old man from Machhiwara and 89-year-old man from New Shivpuri died at Pancham Hospital.

Vivek Dham and Jaipura, both in their forties, succumbed to the virus at the DMCH.

Eight deceased from Giaspura, Khanna, Haibowal Kalan, Samrala, Civil Lines, Guru Ram Das Nagar, SBS Nagar and Kohara were in their fifties.

Three deceased were in the age group of 60-70 years and they belonged to Dhandari Kalan, Cheema Chowk, Bajra village, Hargobind Nagar, BRS Nagar and Guru Arjun Dev Nagar.

A maximum of 87 cases were reported from flu corners while 40 were contacts of positive persons. As many as 62 persons were recommended Covid test by OPDs.

The fresh infections include 19 healthcare workers.

Chemists to open 24X7

Now, chemist shops have been allowed to open 24X7. Lockdown restrictions will not be applicable to healthcare institutions, diagnostic centres and chemist shops any more. They are allowed to operate 24X7.

Meanwhile, the Civil Surgeon of Ludhiana, Dr Rajesh Kumar Bagga, said rapid response teams had been formed. These teams would work in three shifts covering 24 hours a day. The department has been successful in isolating each and every Covid-positive person, tracing his contacts and placing them under quarantine. We have conducted approximately 1.25 lakh tests. Of around 10,500 positive patients, approximately 8,300 persons have recovered from the disease and many of them have been treated in government health facilities.
