Ludhiana sees one Covid death, 67 fresh Covid-19 cases

Sixtyseven persons tested positive for Covid, while one succumbed to the virus today.

The total confirmed cases in the district stood at 19,673, with 819 people having lost their lives in the district so far.

Eighteen patients were on ventilator support today.

The patient who lost her life was an 82-year-old woman from Dashmesh Nagar. She had been admitted to the Civil Hospital. The patient had co-morbidity of hypertension.

Those who tested positive included four persons who were contacts of positive persons. A total of 23 persons were referred from the OPDs, 24 were referred from flu corners, two were healthcare workers, one undertrial and 13 were being traced.

Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga said till date, 46,074 persons had been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such persons was 1,589. Today, 66 persons were sent for home quarantine.

He added that till date, a total of 3,51,508 samples had been taken, out of which reports of 3,50,014 samples had been received. Of these, 3,27,745 samples were found negative, while reports of 1,494 samples were pending. He said now the total number of patients related to Ludhiana was 19,673.

Dr Bagga appealed to the residents to follow all directions of the Punjab government on the Covid protocol for their and others’ safety.
