Ludhiana , July 15

To prevent unnecessary rush at hospitals and to minimise hospital bills, the Ludhiana police have come up with a novel idea. They are set to enrol hotels in the fight against the pandemic.

“We have noticed that sometimes a non-critical Covid patient takes admission to an L3 hospital (super speciality hospital) just to save his co-morbid family members and children from exposure to virus. They not only block hospital rooms but also end up shelling out substantial amount as hospital bills,” says Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal.

The CP said keeping this in mind, the police require hotels to come up and offer their rooms where such persons could check-in and avail home care treatment facility from any tertiary care hospitals such as DMC, CMC, Fortis and SPS.

The person using rooms would pay handsomely to the hotel directly, the CP said, adding that any of the hotel in the city that wants to be part of the scheme could contact the Ludhiana police. The police will help them to tie-up with a hospital. Hotels can email their willingness at cp.ldh.police@punjab.gov.in

The CP revealed that the police would try that the billing was done by hospitals so that patients could claim medical insurance also.
