Ludhiana, June 16

The Police Division 5 registered a rape case against a man on a charge of raping a married woman of Panipat and also blackmailing her after making her objectionable videos.

The suspect has been identified as Akash, a resident of Janta Colony here. After registering a zero FIR, the Panipat police transferred the case file to the city police for further investigation.

The complainant told the police that she got married to a Ludhiana-based man in 2012 and the duo was living on the Pakhowal road.

The victim said she had marital disputes with her husband five years after the marriage.

“Since I was working in a factory in Ludhiana, I developed friendship with my colleague, Akash, in year 2017. On the pretext of marrying her, he developed physical relationships with me for years. He also made my objectionable videos,” the woman alleged.

The suspect continued to exploit her sexually by threatening to make her objectionable videos viral on the social media, the woman said, adding that she filed a complaint with the Panipat police. After registering a zero FIR, they sent the case to the Ludhiana police for further investigation.

Investigating officer ASI Gurcharanjit Singh said raids were being conducted to nab the suspect.
