The DCP said acting on a tip-off, inspector Juneja conducted a raid in Tibba from where the accused were caught. They were planning to commit some major dacoity in the city. Four members of the gang managed to give the slip to the police, of which two were identified as Vishal Gill, a resident of Amarpura, and Raman Rajput of Ludhiana.

Brar said the police also recovered two countrymade .32 bore pistols with 20 Iive cartridges, two sharp weapons, a motorcycle and a Maruti Swift car from the gang.

CIA in-charge Beant Juneja said Vishu was a hotel management student and he was already facing three cases of firing and attempt to murder. Vinay was also facing an attempt to murder case. Pardeep, who has not a criminal past, was running a business of washing trucks and Kamaljit is also facing cases of firing and attempt to murder registered in Ludhiana.

Besides, the CIA also nabbed Sonu Kumar (19) of Salempur village and seized .32 bore pistol, along with two live cartridges, from him. He was involved in a firing incident occurred in Ladhowal in May this year.

Further interrogation of the accused may lead to more seizures of illegal arms and ammunition.
