Ludhiana: 5 booked in two cases of fraud

The police have booked two persons, Sahibjit Singh and his wife Gurpreet Kaur, residents of Rajgarh Estate, under various sections of the IPC and the Immigration Act on the complaint of Ashok Kumar, resident of Phase I, Dugri.

The complainant said the duo had promised to send his son Nirvan to Canada and received Rs 25 lakh from him. The agents failed to send his son abroad and also refused to refund the money paid to them, he alleged. No arrest has been made so far.

In another case, the police have booked Yash Pal Jindal, his son Sandeep Jindal, owners of Jindal Cotex Mills, and their manager Kartar Chand Dhiman, under various sections of the IPC, on the complaint of Ghanshyam Goyal of Focal Point.

Goyal alleged that the trio had purchased fabrics from his firm and had issued cheques for the balance amount. “With an evil intention of not making the outstanding payment, they lodged a false report of cheques being lost or misplaced and also forged entries in their books of accounts. — OC
