Leaders oppose allotment of Waqf Board properties

Leaders of various Muslim outfits have threatened to launch a struggle against the state government and the management of the Punjab Waqf Board if properties worth crores, allegedly allotted illegally to various individuals and organisations, are not restored to the original owner, the Waqf Board.

A petition was made during a meeting of office-bearers and activists of various Muslim organisations of the area, led by Muslim Federation office-bearers advocate Muveen Farooqi and Tariq Manzoor on the Dehliz road at Ahmedgarh.

The activists, who were carrying placards with slogans against the government, raised slogans against Congress leaders of the area whose names were figured among beneficiaries.

Speakers, including Muveen Farooqi, Tariq Manzoor, councillor Aman Afridi, sarpanch Azmal Khan and Yaseen Laadoo, lamented that the state government, led by Capt Amarinder Singh, had failed to save interests of

Muslims of the border state by first appointing a chairman, Junaid Raja, from outside the state and then allotting

premium pieces of land worth crores illegally to favourites of Congress leaders.

A list of at least 16 properties was released on the occasion wherein close relatives of Junaid and close associates of the Chief Minister, including Captain Sandeep Sandhu (CM’s OSD) and Raja Warring, were shown as beneficiaries.
