Firing incident: Key accused Karan lands in police net

The police today arrested the key accused, Karan Kalia, who, along with his aides, had shot at a 20-year-old youth, Kartik Baggan, near Naulakha Garden colony on Saturday night.

The key accused, Karan Kalia, along with his aides, had shot at a 20-year-old youth, Kartik Baggan, near Naulakha Garden colony on Saturday night.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central) Harsimrat Chetra said the police parties were conducting raids to nab the accused. Today, they got a tip-off about the whereabouts of the key accused. Accordingly, the police party conducted a raid and nabbed the accused.

“We will seek his police remand to know about the whereabouts of other suspects. We will also inquire about the involvement of any gang behind the incident,” said ACP Harsimrat.

Notably, an attempt-to-murder case was registered against 12 persons - Karan Kalia, Vishu Kainth, Kamal, Kunal Sharma, Dikshan Tandon, Nik Oberoi, Billa Wadda, Karan Sharma, Raman Rajput, Neeraj Rajput, Shivam Mota and Rishav Benipal. Shivam and Rishav are already lodged in the Central Jail, Ludhiana. The victim’s family had alleged that the duo had hatched the conspiracy from the jail.
