Jalandhar man dies of Covid at DMCH Ludhiana

Ludhiana, June 3

A 64-year-old man from Jalandhar, suffering from Covid-19, died at the DMCH here today. The deceased was a resident of Tagore Nagar, Jalandhar. He was admitted to the DMCH. His Covid report came positive yesterday. Earlier, an ex-serviceman lost life to Covid-19 at Mohan Dai Cancer Hospital here yesterday.

While confirming the report, the Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga, said the patient from Jalandhar was admitted to the DMCH on May 1. He died today, Dr Bagga added. The patient was diabetic with co-morbid conditions, Dr Bagga said.

With this case, the total number of Covid-19 positive patients in Ludhiana has reached 203. Besides, 95 other positive patients from other districts/states are also admitted at various hospitals in the city.

OPD at Civil Hospital likely to start soon

“The Civil Hospital OPD will be resume shortly,” said Dr Bagga. The work was to start OPDs in all departments was going on at full swing, Dr Bagga added. Till now, an OPD was open at the ESI Hospital.

When questioned about Covid positive patients at the hospital, Dr Bagga said, “All Covid positive patients will be shifted to Vardhman. A roster of doctors treating Covid patients will be pasted there. We are doing our best to start the OPDs. Covid tests will continue at the Civil Hospital, but positive patients will be shifted from here to Vardhman.”

Pay fine for not wearing mask

The Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Kumar Bagga, said, “As per directions of the Punjab Government, any person not wearing mask will be fined Rs500. If any bus, car or auto-rickshaw/two-wheeler owner does not follow social distancing rules, then he/she will be fined Rs3,000, Rs2,000 and Rs500, respectively. Any person breaking home quarantine will be fined Rs2,000. Spitting in public place will invite a fine of Rs500.”
