Industrialists booked for ‘misbehaving’ with team

Ludhiana, January 17

The Division 4 police have booked several businessmen on the charge of misbehaving with GST officials and snatching records from them. The incident took place on Wednesday when the officials conducted a raid.

Those booked have been identified as Naveen Jain, owner of SK Deepak Knitwears; CA Rajesh Mahajan; Vaneet Rai, president of Vyopar Mandal Gur Mandi; and around 50 unknown persons.

The complainant, Anil Kumar Dogra, Inspector, GST Bhawan, Rishi Nagar, told the police that after receiving search warrant from the Joint Commissioner, CGST, a team visited Deepak Knitwears in Vakila Mohalla to inspect the records. When team of the GST Department reached there, the suspects gathered there and snatched some records from some members of the team.

They also locked the officials in a room and misbehaved with them.

Investigating officer Kuldeep Singh said no arrest had been made yet.
