Indefinite hunger fast by Prof Kingra enters Day 4

Struggle launched by the Punjab Federation of University and College Teachers Organisation (PFUCTO) for implementing the UGC revised pay scales has reached crossroads as hunger fast by Prof HS Kingra, president of the teachers’ body, entered fourth day here today. Senior SAD leader Daljit Singh Cheema also met protesting teachers and interacted with Prof Kingra.

Dr Jagwant Singh, general secretary, PFUCTO, said Prof Kingra would continue his fast till the Punjab Government accepted all genuine demands of the union.

Various universities and collegs had started chain hunger strike in support of Prof Kingra, he added.

Meanwhile, a delegation of teachers from Amritsar and Taran Taran districts led by Prof BB Yadav visited Prof Kingra today. Prof Vinay Sophat, president, PCCTU, urged the government to give up its stubborn attitude and issue notification of revised pay scales immediately.
