Home delivery of veggies to commence today

The district administration had closed sabzi mandi near Jalandhar bypass for a couple of days after heavy rush was witnessed despite curfew.

Now, the administration claimed that residents will get delivery of vegetables and fruits on the doorstep from Saturday.

Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal and MC Commissioner Kanwalpreet Kaur Brar inspected various areas to ensure proper supply of vegetables.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that farmers who want to sell their produce at the sabzi mandi located near Jalandhar bypass can bring fruits and vegetables in the mandi from 1 pm to 7 pm on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

He said that on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, big vendors (who can distribute on their own) will be able to purchase fruits and vegetables from 6 am to 10 am.

The Deputy Commissioner said such vendors should have a pass issued by the District Mandi Officer, Ludhiana.

He clarified that small vendors (rehris), residents and shopkeepers will not be allowed to enter the sabzi mandi. He said the entire sabzi mandi will be sanitised on every Sunday.

The trial run was held today and from Saturday (April 4) supply of fruits and vegetables to different wards will commence, he said.

Vendors will ensure home delivery of vegetables and fruits in the wards, he said.
