Girl suffers 90% burns

A 30-year-old girl suffered serious burn injuries in Vishkarmapuri here last night. She suffered 90 per cent burn injuries and was struggling for life at DMC Hospital.

Police checking CCTVs to get clues 

  • The police are also checking the footage of CCTV cameras of the area to get vital clues to solve the case. So far, the girl is also not in a situation to record her statement with the police. Her condition is said to be serious.

The victim’s parents alleged that two youths barged into their house around 2.30 am today and set her ablaze. However, the police probe so far has found that she set herself ablaze.

According to information, the girl’s marriage was scheduled to be held on January 17. Unfortunately, she met the tragedy last night.

The victim’s family told the police that she was sleeping on the ground floor of the house. She went to the bathroom around 2.30 am. While she was returning to her room, two youths, who had entered the house, set her ablaze and fled from the spot. When the victim raised the alarm, her parents woke up and took her to a hospital.

  • The victim’s parents alleged that two youths barged into their house around 2.30 am today and set her ablaze. However, the police probe so far has found that she set herself ablaze.

Amarjit Singh, SHO of Police Division 6, said: “A can of diesel was also recovered from the spot, which was kept by her family for marriage purpose. Preliminary probe suggest that no one can enter the house as per its structure. However, probe is still on and nothing can be said at this moment”.

The police are also checking the footage of CCTV cameras of the area to get vital clues to solve the case. So far, the girl is not in a condition to record her statement with the police. Her condition is said to be serious.
