Gill village, BCM schools emerge champions

Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village, and BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, emerged champions in the girls and boys’ sections, respectively, in the 24th Junior Ludhiana District Softball Championship held at Guru Nanak Stadium here.

In the girls’ category, Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill, proved too good for Government School, Mallan, near Jagraon, as the former came out triumphant hands down (6-0) to win the title. In the hard-line cup match, BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, drubbed Nightingale Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, 24-8 to secure the third position.

In the boys’ section, BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, outplayed DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, 5-0 to clinch the title while in the match to decide the third position, Guru Nanak Model School, Dholewal, defeated Government Senior Secondary School, Kasabad, 7-2 to finish at the victory podium.

Pran Nath Passi, general secretary, Punjab Softball Association, was the chief guest at the prize distribution function. Office-bearers of the Ludhiana District Softball Association, coaches and players were among others present.
