GCG students shine in exams

Ludhiana: The students of Government College for Girls bagged five university positions in BA semester V exam. University Examinations conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Shreya Sharma secured first position in university with 88.68%, Mannat Kunra bagged third position in University with 87.63%, Kajal got fifth position in University with 87.29%, Jyoti Kumari secured seventh position in University with 86.75% and Radhika bagged ninth position in University with 86.50%.

One-day seminar held

A one-day national seminar was organised by the Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, on the theme, ‘Punjabi Sahit: Punjab Sankat de Vartman Paripekh’. Dr Gurpal Singh Sandhu was the chief guest of the seminar. Dr Jaswinder Singh, Ex-head and Prof Dept of Punjabi & Dean Academic Affairs and Dean Languages, Punjabi University Patiala in his keynote address expressed his concern over economic, social, religious and political crises in Punjab and its present perspective. He shared his concern over various problems prevailing in Punjab like drug addiction, agriculture crisis, immigration, falling level of education, vulgarity content in Punjabi songs and lyrics.

Digital Photography competition

The Department of Computer Science and Application of Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd (Ldh.) organized a Digital Photography competition. The students of all streams participated in it. Theme of competition was 'flowers'. Jaspreet Kaur BCA-I got 1st position, Alkdeep Kaur from BCA-II got 2nd and Pariinder Kaur from BSc final got 3rd positions. The Principal Dr Rajwinder Kaur Hundal admired the students for their enthusiastic participation and awarded them.

Ghadar Party Founder remembered

A function to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna was held in the auditorium of the Guru TeghBahadur National College, Dakha. Adbi Dayra an organisation of litterateurs and Pulse manch collaborated with the College for the function. College Principal Avtar Singh welcomed the guests and said the objective of the function was to provide knowledge to the students about the great contribution of freedom fighters like Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna and other members of Ghadar movement in India's freedom movement. Dr Jagmohan Singh former Professor, PAU Ludhiana and nephew of Shaheed e azamBhagat Singh explained how the Baba Bhakna’s preachings influenced other freedom fighters such as Bhagat Singh and Kartar Singh Sarabha. He also spoke on the great respect accorded by Baba Bhakna to women as evidenced by his letter addressed to his wife.

Alumni meet at GHG Khalsa College

The alumni of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, walked down the memory lane at the alumni meet organised at the college campus. The meet was attended by several former students from different batches visiting their alma mater after a long time and reminiscing their golden days. The alumni members shared their cherished memories, renewed old friendships and revived forgotten bonds. Dr SS Deol, President Alumni Association, formally welcomed the alumni members. He briefed the alumni about the new initiatives taken by the college, while, also, sharing the achievements of Manju (Gold in Boxing at SAF Games) and Shivani (Bronze in Sepak-takraw at Asian Games) with the members.
