Gang running fake SIM racket busted

The Basti Jodhewal police claimed to have busted a fake SIM card racket and arrested five persons in this regard.

The accused were identified as Prince of Santokh Nagar, Daresi, Rahul Machanda of Peeru Banda, Sarabjeet Singh Sabi of Bhola Colony, Jatinder Kumar of Guru Teg Bahadur Colony and Sourav Kumar of New Shivpuri. The arrested persons included retailers and distributors of Vodafone company.

ADCP Deepak Pareek held a press conference regarding the matter. He said the racket got busted when the police were conducting a probe on the complaint of a woman as some person was teasing her on phone. When the phone number was being verified, the SIM was found to be fake and the racket came to light.

Pareek said whenever someone came to buy a new SIM card, the accused used to misuse the procured photograph and other ID proof of the customer and then used those documents to issue other SIM cards.
