GADVASU holds workshop for mid-career teachers

To upgrade the teaching standards of the university, a teaching workshop was organised by College of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, (GADVASU), in collaboration with University of Calgary, Canada.

Baljit Singh, dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; and Amy Warren, assistant dean, Teaching and Learning, University of Calgary, were the resource persons for this workshop.

A total of 25 teachers from College of Veterinary Science, College of Dairy Science and Technology, College of Fisheries and College of Animal Biotechnology participated in the workshop and interacted with the experts to hone their professional teaching skills.

The resource persons dwelled on effective teaching techniques, ways to assess performance of students and teachers, setting of question papers and management of time during the workshop.

JPS Gill, director research, GADVASU, gave a glimpse of the university collaborations with various foreign institutes and its standing in the institutional ranking. S K Uppal, dean postgraduate studies, laid stress on improving student-teacher relationships.

During the concluding session, Baljit Singh Gill highlighted the ongoing collaborations between the University of Calgary and GADVASU, and underlined the significance of teaching ability and development of teaching skills in young professionals.
