‘Fit India Freedom Run’

Ludhiana: To commemorate the 75th Independence Day, ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, IQAC, in collaboration with the NSS unit and NCC wing of the Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, organised a ‘Fit India Freedom Run’. Cadets and volunteers participated with enthusiasm in the run. TNS

Duchenne Awareness Day observed at CMCH

Ludhiana: World Duchenne Awareness Day-2021 was celebrated at Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). The theme for this year is “Adult life and Duchennes”. The session was inaugurated by Dr William Bhatti, director of CMC, and Dr Jeyaraj Pandian, principal of CMC. Dr Bhatti said Duchenne muscular dystrophy was a devastating genetic disease which affected young boys. Dr Vineeth Jaison, associate professor and in charge, neuromuscular clinic, said the average life expectancy of these children in India was 15 years, whereas in developed nations they could live up to 40 years. The event was attended by all members of the multidisciplinary team and was followed by an educational session for parents and children.

DMCH professor honoured

Dr Sarit Sharma, professor of community medicine at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) was awarded the 37th Dr S Radhakrishnan Memorial National Teachers Award-2021 by Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment. Dr Sharma has been teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students for approximately 21 years. In addition, he is also actively involved in public health activities, providing health education in community and research. He has published many research papers in national and international medical journals and presented his research work in many conferences. Recently, he was also conferred with the Fellowship of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (FIAPSM). — TNS

CT varsity, law firm ink pact

Ludhiana: CT University has signed an MoU with RS Law Associates, a Chandigarh-based law firm, to provide internships and future placement options to CTU law graduates. The VC said: “Besides, the university has also signed an MoU with advocate GBS Dhillon, current president of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association for providing better exposure to students at the HC level.” — TNS
