FIRs registered for causing road jams

Ludhiana, November 20

To ease the traffic jams in crowded markets, the Ludhiana police have initiated a special drive and started registering FIRs against the persons creating hurdles in the smooth flow of the traffic.

The police division No. 2 had registered six FIRs against roadside vendors and shopkeepers in a day till last night. The first case was registered against a roadside vendor, identified as Vijay Kumar, of Prem Nagar. He had put up his makeshift vending shop on the Jagraon road which was creating traffic hurdle.

Another case was registered against a shopkeeper Tajinder Singh of Prem Vihar on the charge of encroaching a road in Field Ganj. The shopkeeper, selling garments, had put an extra table on the road which caused traffic jam.

Charanjit Singh was booked as he had erected a vend on the Ganesh Market road. Samin Khan on Adarsh Nagar was booked for creating traffic hurdle by parking his Bolero on the Shahpur road and Ravinder Singh, a driver of a commercial vehicle, was booked for wrong parking at the local adda.

Gurbhag Singh of Alamgir, a dhaba owner, was booked as he had put up a table on road for his clients. A case under Section 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) IPC was registered against the accused. After arresting them, they were released on bail.
