Fire breaks out at garment factory near Daresi ground

Mishap triggered by explosion of LPG cylinder

Fire broke out at a garment factory near the Daresi ground on Wednesday evening after an LPG cylinder exploded. Four factory workers had a narrow escape as they had to run out of the factory premises to save their lives. Due to lock down factory was lying closed.

As per the available information, factory was situated on the ground floor while workers were living on the first floor of the building. Incident occurred at 2.30 pm today. Fire tenders immediately reached the spot and controlled the blaze within few minutes. Workers were preparing food when suddenly fire started from the LPG cylinder. Workers immediately rushed out of the room and the cylinder exploded.

Had the fire reached ground floor loss could have been in lakhs as huge stock of garment and machinery was lying there. Aatish Rai, sub-fire officer, said only one fire tender was pressed into service to douse flames. Some machinery lying in the room was also damaged.
