Elderly person succumbs, 34 test positive in Ludhiana

One more person succumbed to Covid-19 today. The deceased, a resident of Bahadur-Ke-Bhattian, was suffering from diabetes, asthma and hypertension. The 85-year-old patient tested positive at SPS Hospital on June 12. With his death, the Covid toll in Ludhiana district has gone to 18.

Meanwhile, a patient from Malerkotla, who was admitted to the DMCH, died of Covid. The 65-year-old man was also suffering from diabetes and hypertension.

As many as 39 persons tested positive today, of which 34 belong to Ludhiana district. Two persons are from Hoshiarpur and one each from Amritsar, Sangrur and Gurdaspur.

Of the 34 persons testing positive today, 18 are contacts of Covid patients and are residents of Sidhwan Bet, new Vishkarma Colony, Luvkush Nagar, Manohar Nagar, Jamalpur, Azad Nagar, Pakhowal Road.

A 44-year-old man from Sarabha Nagar, with a travel history of Bihar, and 29-year-old resident of New Gurnam Nagar, Jassian Road, with a travel history of Delhi, also tested positive.

Two pregnant women from Laxman Nagar on Daba Road and from Prem Nagar, a TB patient from Banda Bahadur Colony, Basti Jodhewal; and a health worker are among those testing positive.

The wife of a policeman, who tested positive yesterday, was also found infected.

Two persons from Hathur village, who are contacts of a positive patient, also tested positive at Moga.

Two persons each from the containment zone of Prem Nagar and Islam Ganj tested positive.

15 of Civil Surgeon office to give samples

Fifteen employees of the Civil Surgeon office will be tested for Covid in the wake of a lab technician testing positive on Monday. The technician works at the ESI hospital. On Thursday and Friday, he had visited the Civil Surgeon office.
