Ludhiana, April 1

Punjab Dyers’ Association has demanded sampling of the Buddha Nullah waters and sewage treatment plants (STPs). Bobby Jindal of Punjab Dyers Association said, “All industries, including the dyeing industry, have been shutdown due to the Covid-19 crisis since March 22. This means that only domestic effluent is reaching the Jamalpur STP.”

“Still water coming from the Jamalpur STP after treatment is black. It means the Jamalpur STP is not working properly. The dyeing industry is always blamed for black water in Buddha Nullah. Now, anybody can check black water coming from the Jamalpur STP discharge point at any point of time,” he added.

“We request the MC, the PPCB and the NGT to collect samples of water discharged by the Jamalpur STP after treatment at this time when all industries are closed,” he said.
