Double delight for Guru Nanak Club girls

Girl players of Guru Nanak Club stamped their supremacy by clinching titles in the U-14 and 17 sections in the Ludhiana District Sub-Junior and Youth Basketball Championship which concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium here on Wednesday.

In the girls U-14 final, Guru Nanak Club faced a little challenge from Doraha Public School whom they defeated 28-10 while in the final (U-17), they overwhelmed Doraha Public School 59-21 to clinch the titles.

In the boys’ category, DGSG School and DAV Hawks got the better of their respective opponents to emerge champions in the U-17 and U-14 sections, respectively.

In the boys U-14 group, DAV Hawks recorded a facile (43-17) win over International Public School to win the title and in the U-17 section DGSG School outnumbered DAV Public School, BRS Nagar 59-45 to annex the title.

Jesus Sacred Heart School beat BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School 15-4 and Jesus Sacred Heart School outplayed Police DAV School 17-4 to secure third position in the girls U-14 and U-17 categories, respectively.

In the boys’ U-14 category, Doraha Public School edged out BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School 15-4 to finish at third place while in the U-17 group, Nav Bharti Public School outwitted BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary 51-20 to secure third position.

Ashish Arun Gill, former national basketball player distributed the prizes among position holders.
