Documentary depicting historic Gurdwara Bhabour Sahib released

The world premiere of a documentary film titled ‘Prayer of Protection’, made by city lawyer Harpreet Sandhu, depicting historic Gurdwara Bhabour Sahib, Nangal, Punjab, was held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Sarabha Nagar, here.

Eminent personalities of the city released the documentary at an event held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Sarabha Nagar, and previewed the film.

Dr Surjit Patar while releasing the documentary said it was an impressive work, showcasing the significance of Gurudwara Bhabour Sahib and Hymns of Prayer ‘Chaupai Sahib’ and appreciated the efforts of advocate Harpreet Sandhu for making such a documentary which would promote the history of this historic gurdwara within the community, especially among the younger generation. and stated that the theme of this film ‘Prayer of Protection’ is specially taken, seeking protection from the Almighty, by performing prayer for the safety of humanity from the Pandemic. The film depicts the historical significance of Gurdwara Bhabour Sahib in Nangal where Guru Gobind Singh compiled ‘Chaupai Sahib’ sitting on the banks of the Sutlej, during the Guru’s stay at the pious place between 1700-01.

Sandhu shot the documentary during the lockdown, in May 2020, and tried to portray the original natural surroundings in and around the pious place, with an aim to promote the historic gurdwara.

“I thank the Almighty for giving me strength in accomplishing the task of making the documentary,” Sandhu said.

He said his passion for photography of historical gurdwaras and Sikh symbols encouraged him to utilise his time during the lockdown, with an aim to promote the historic gurdwara worldwide. — TNS
