Covid: Board reviews disposal of biomedical waste in Ludhiana

The Punjab Pollution Control Board, Ludhiana, organised a meeting with administrators of various hospitals, healthcare establishments and quarantine facilities involved in the treatment of Covid-19 patients. The meeting was chaired by Sandeep Bahl, Senior Environmental Engineer, PPCB, Ludhiana.

Doctors, staff appreciated

  • Sandeep Bahl, Senior Environmental Engineer, PPCB, Ludhiana, appreciated the efforts of the doctors and paramedical staff of the Covid centres for management of the infectious waste and advised them to be more cautious and careful in proper disposal of masks, gloves and PPE kits in a scientific and environmentally sound manner.

During the meeting, the administrators were told about various measures that need to be taken for effective disposal of Covid-related waste.

The operator of the common biomedical waste treatment facility where the Covid-19 waste is managed was also present at the meeting. During an interactive session, the problems faced by the hospitals regarding the segregation and disposal of biomedical waste and the immediate disposal by the biomedical facility were also discussed.

Bahl appreciated the efforts of the doctors and paramedical staff of the Covid centres for management of the infectious waste and advised them to be more cautious and careful in proper disposal of masks, gloves and PPE kits in a scientific and environmentally sound manner.
