Covid-19: Virus claims 2 more lives; 38 fresh cases in Ludhiana

Covid-19 has claimed life of two more persons while 38 fresh positive cases have been reported from Ludhiana district on Wednesday. The Health Department has confirmed 52 fresh cases, including 38 patients from Ludhiana district and 14 from other districts or states.

Of the 38 patients of the district, four persons came in contact with positive patients, 14 visited the OPD and 14 with influenza-like illness visited the flu corner. Besides, six others, including a police personnel and a patient with severe acute respiratory illness, have tested positive for the virus.

Civil Surgeon Rajesh Bagga said five persons, including two from Ludhiana district, one each from Barnala, Bathinda and Jammu and Kashmir, died of Covid today. In Ludhiana district, a 58-year-old man from Kidwai Nagar and a 53-year-old man from Lakshmi Nagar died due to the virus today.

According to information, a total of 833 patients of Ludhiana district have died of the virus till date. At present, 11 patients, including five from Ludhiana and six from other states or districts, are on ventilator.

As many as 2,872 samples were collected for Covid test here on Wednesday. Besides, there are 236 active cases of Ludhiana district and 73 active cases of other districts or states here.

Till date, a total of 3,82,377 samples have been taken, of which reports of 3,80,507 samples have been received, of which 3,57,651 samples were tested negative while results of 1,870 samples were pending.

The district administration appealed to residents to follow all directions of the state government and if they would stay indoors, they would not only stay safe themselves but also contribute to keeping everyone around safe.
