Colleges making extra efforts to conduct first online exams

Colleges of the district seemed to be extra cautious as far as the conduct of the first online examinations of the exit semester classes are concerned. They seemed to be too busy in getting in touch with students sans physical contact.

Principal, Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, Narinder Sidhu, said as per university instructions, regular college students have started getting their admit cards from the college from September 12 onwards.

“Our aim is to minimise their visits to the college and provide them each and every information at their doorsteps, virtually. Following the instructions of the DPI and the university strictly, we have to avoid physical contact at all costs. For a student who has no option but to appear physically, prior arrangements have been made,” he said.

Principal, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, Khushwinder Kumar. said: “The exams are in blended mode of education. Hence, students are not coming to the campus for examinations. However, the arrangements for sanitisation, thermal check and oximeter for the staff are done.”

“As the online mode does not require any physical monitoring as such, students are free to take exams at their convenient places, may be his/her residence. Though we have made adequate arrangements in our institution, most of the students are well versed with technology and will be comfortable attempting from their homes rather than coming to examination centres and getting exposed,” said Dr Kuldip Singh, principal, Constituent College, Nihal Singh Wala, Moga.

“Though students are not expected to be physically present in the institute during the exams, we have taken proper safety measures on the campus for students and teachers, said Dr Sandeep Shawney, principal, Doraha College of Education.

“Students, who wish to take exam physically in the college, have to compulsorily wear masks. The gatekeeper will record their temperature at the entrance. They are being told to bring their water bottles and sanitisers with them. They are also told about precautions they have to take,” said Dr Kuldip Kaur Dhaliwal, principal, Mata Ganga Khalsa College, Manji Sahib Kottan.
