CII Foundation adopts 25 villages to spread awareness

The CII Foundation, along with the active support of the PTC Foundation and the PFS, has started raising awareness against stubble burning in villages of the Doraha, Sahnewal and Samrala blocks, including Ghulal, Bijlipur, Lal Kalan, Kubba, khattran, Madpur, Balala, Lopon, Mehdoodan, Khaira, Neelon, Chak, Rampur, Ajnoud, Tibba, Dhamout, Jargari, Chak Sarwan Nath, Lato Joga and Panglian.

The foundation is working at the grass-roots level, addressing needs of farmers as far as the demand for machinery and technical assistance is concerned. Besides, they have engaged volunteers who initially visit the farmers and convince them not to burn stubble and provide them a ready solution to their requirement for machinery.

Programme coordinator, Punjab and Haryana, climate change resilience, CII Foundation, SM Tahir Hussain, said: “Till now, under the project, 25 villages had been targeted to make smoke-free this year. — OC
