Cash-starved Ludhiana MC to sell prime commercial properties

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the fund-starved Municipal Corporation is going to sell a number of commercial properties, including space for shop-cum-offices, shops and plots. The registration for e-auction of these properties will start from September 1 and it will continue till September 15.

According to information, the MC will conduct an e-auction of five vacant plots for shop-cum-offices near Keys Hotel on Lodhi Club Road, Ludhiana. As the size of a plot for SCO is 100 sq yards, the reserve price for each plot is Rs1.50 lakh per square yard.

In 2015, the reserve price was Rs 1.70 lakh per sq yard for a shop-cum-office (SCO) site but not a single bidder showed interest.

The MC is also going to sell a plot of 653 sq yards at Jamalpur Awana on Chandigarh Road and its reserve price is Rs40,000 per square yard. Another plot of 268.44 square yards located in the back of Kailash Cinema site is to be auctioned and the reserve price for the same is Rs38,000 per square yard. Besides, the MC has to sell 17 shops of various sizes at Barring Market on Old GT Road, Ludhiana. The reserve price is Rs 1 lakh per square yard for a shop.

Joint Commissioner Kulpreet Singh said the final online bidding of these properties could be placed on September 18 from 9 am to 3 pm.

Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu said: “With changing circumstances and as per the directions and availability of online portal of Local Government Department Punjab, the Municipal Corporation has decided to conduct the e-auction of the commercial properties at prime locations. Persons wishing to purchasing properties at these prime locations can register and participate in the e-auction process through www.tenderwizard.com/DLGP.

“Through e-auction process, there will be full transparency. We are expected to get high bids and get good income through e-auction. In this digital era, this e-auction process is less expensive as no tent, no chairs and no other related arrangements are required,” the Mayor added.
